Project: Develop and produce a fun kids show making use of state of the art live compositing technology to drive a CG environment.
Okay this one is a bit of a blast from the past. This was a promo/proof of concept I co-created and directed with a great friend Michelle Bizzarro.
Time Travel, Space Exploration, and the chance to explore history!!! Yes that's right I'm talking about " The Young Explorers".
We created this simple, fun, teen space concept to test out a computer system that was able to live render all of the cg backgrounds. At the time this was cutting edge, being able to work on green screen while see the end composite on the monitors. This was all very early in the days of cg backgrounds - to be working with live composites was outstanding. This was a great step for the tech and for shows wanting to be working in strictly CG environments. We had a blast, the tech worked pretty well and we enjoyed playing around in our fictional space world run by teens.
It clearly wouldn't hold up to the standards of today, but it's always interesting to look back at how somethings got started.
And as an added bonus, if you are patient til the end of the video there is a fairly embarrassing cameo by yours truly at the end.
